The full-court press

Couple quick updates on some shows I’ll have work in this fall/winter:

“Process” - J&K Gallery, Arcadia, CA, Sept. 10th-Nov. 5th

“Horrorwood” - WWA Gallery, Culver City, CA, Oct. 15th-Dec. 4th (w/ tons of Otis folk!)

“Bad Dads - A tribute to Wes Anderson movies” - Gallery TBA, San Francisco, CA, Oct. 30th opening

“Under the Influence - Comedians of the 70’s & 80’s” - Gallery 1988, Los Angeles, CA, Jan. 7th opening

So yeah, that’s gonna keep me busy, hope I can see you at most of those (won’t be able to make the S.F. opening unfortunately), I’ve got some really rad ideas for each of them and am in process on all of them.

Anyway, to tide you over, here’s a little drawing I did for my other gig, (that being screenprinting) and which I’ll be printing live this Friday at the Music Box in Hollywood during Beatdown. Beats, bass, drinks, and live printing (and me!), what more could you ask for?

til next time….

One more Crazy 4 Cult mention/plug, here’s G4’s coverage of the show, and my painting leads off the whole shebang. Now I feel like I missed out not going in for the interview session, but I know I’m horrible in front of the camera, so probably all for the best.

Anyway, if you didn’t get a chance to go, this is a decent overview (they missed Julian’s Harold sculpture, amongst other paintings, but it’s a pretty good representation, including the amazing Eric Tan offset print.), check it out!

On to the next one

Well Crazy 4 Cult 4 is over, and it was an awesome time, and a lot of awesome work, I was really happy I got to be a part of it. Apparently something big is going down for next year’s show, I haven’t the slightest clue as to what it might be though. Thanks to everyone who came through and/or supported!

Anyway, as for myself, I have 2 shows coming up this fall, one at the J&K Gallery in Arcadia, CA in September, and then a horror-movie themed show at WWA Gallery in Culver City, I’ll have more info as it becomes available.

I have some new work which I haven’t gotten around to posting, bear with me. But I don’t want to leave you imageless. So here’s some color seperation I was messing around with earlier. I might have to make a print at some point.

Greetings

Hello all, it’s been forever, sorry to be away. Between working two jobs and general busyness haven’t had time to update, but that doesn’t mean I ain’t been keeping on keeping on. I wanted to wait til I talked to Jensen down at G1988 as well. This is the one I’ve been previewing before and took me a loooong time to really nail down. Still got some tweaks to do, but I’m pretty happy. Consider this your first preview:

L to R: Point Break, Plan 9, Resevoir Dogs, Bill & Ted, Pulp Fiction, Up in Smoke, True Romance, Boogie Nights, Repo Man, Big Lebowski. Background: Blade Runner

This will be in the Crazy 4 Cult show next month at Gallery 1988, I still have plans for a New York one, an all-Godzilla Tokyo one (with maybe a little Akira thrown in), and a Shermer, Ill. one (the fictional town where John Hughes set all of his movies). Sooner rather than later this will also be available on a skateboard and as a print at my Artsprojekt store, as soon as I really get that going in earnest.

And lastl, big ups and much congratulations to my fellow Shomakonians Jessica Dalva and Jessica Cooper who absolutely KILLED it last night at La Luz De Jesus, even the God Himself, Robert Williams was seriously checking it out, I’m so proud of them!
